Quotes to live by

I've constantly tried to have an "idealistic" look upon life, intertwined with a very simple goal: "I want to touch others, be there for them, and make a difference in their lives." The most important thing in my life is to follow what God wants. These quotes below reflect many things that I consider important in anyone's life, and I hope some of them touch you.

Others:

"Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory; rather, humbly regard others as more important than yourselves, each looking out not for his own interests, but also everyone for those of others." Phil 2:3-4, New American Bible

Faith:

"So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead." James 2:17, New American Bible

"People more frequently require to be reminded than informed" -- Samuel Johnson

Forgiveness:

"If a bad person wrongs you, forgive the person, lest there be two bad people." -- Anonymous

Love:

"Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant, or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends." 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, New Oxford version

"People may doubt what you say, but they will believe what you do." -- Lewis Cass

"It is not enough for me to love God, if my neighbor does not love God." -- St. Vincent de Paul

"[God says,] 'I can never forget you! I have written your name on the palms of my hands." -- Isaiah 49:16

"God says to you, ... 'No matter what you do in life, I'm always going to love you. I may not approve of everything you do, but I'm always going to love you.' - Neil J. Anderson"

Perserverence:

"The best way out is always through." -- Robert Frost

"Hard times ain't quit and we ain't quit." -- Meridel LeSueur

Close-Mindedness:

"A closed mind is a dying mind." -- Edna Ferber

"God is more anxious to communicate with us than we are to listen." -- Morton Kelsey

"All living souls welcome whatsoever they are ready to cope with; all else they ignore, or pronounce to be monstrous and wrong, or deny to be possible." -- George Santayana

Open-Mindedness:

"You must learn day by day, year by year, to broaden your horizon. The more things you love, the more you are interested in, the more you enjoy, the more you are indignant about - the more you have left when anything happens." -- Ethel Barrymore

"The only means of strengthening one's intellect is to make up one's mind about nothing - to let the mind be a thoroughfare for all thoughts." -- John Keats

"The beautiful souls are they that are universal, open, and ready for all things." -- Michel de Montaigne

Meaning/Importance:

"If something is important, you make the time for it" -- Scotty, ST:G

"The least of things with a meaning is worth more in life than the greatest of things without it." -- Carl Jung

Patience:

"Beware the fury of a patient man." -- John Dryden

"Patience is the art of hoping." -- Marquis de Vauvenargues
